{diy} Anna's 1st Birthday // colorful dots // Recycling Your Baby Food Jars As Thank You Gifts

As most of my fellow new mom's know, these little jars flood the house.  I hated throwing them out, but boy do they clutter.  I must say a big thank you to my friend Carrie.  She saved so many jars I was actually able to pull this off.   They are just the right size for take home snacks.  A big hit at Anna's birthday party.

I used the same design from the paper flags.  See my recent tuitorial on paper straw flags for the how to.

knits {cozy slippers}

I had the best intentions of getting these finished in December.  Look at me.  What month is it now?  Well, let's just say I did get them completed before Easter, right?  At what point can you stop blaming everything on being a new mom? One of my dearest friends is receiving these darling little things in the mail this week.  I hope she loves them as much as I love her.

Ellen's Mother's Day Giveaway

If you know me, you know I'm home alot during the day.  The only two shows I really watch are TODAY and Ellen.  Ellen had a very special episode today.  In honor of Mother's Day she had all expecting moms in her audience.  And of course she loaded them up with all kinds of amazing gifts.  Jealous!  One of my favorite givewaways was from Dogeared.  It is a jewelry company specializing in charms, gems, and sentimental items.  They are simple, chic and modern.

I just love them.  I also love that you could start off with one or two pieces and add on a gem later on.  They would be great to add additional birthstones and more babies come along.  Push gift maybe?

DIY: Knits

FINALLY I am posting some homemade knits. I feel like I've been talking about knitting forever without any result!  I started knitting in August while my grandpa was in the hospital.  It has now become one of my favorite past times.  For Christmas gifts I got really ambitious and made 15 dishcloths for the girls in my family.  It was a great way to learn and try out new stitches.  After making 15 I doubt I'll ever make another dishcloth again but it was fun while I made them.

I also knitted my good friend Abby, over at the Turquoise Penguin a wool/acrylic blend scarf with a large cable stitch.  Cabling is so much fun to do once you get the hang of it. I made a 100% wool one for myself for practice.  I like Abby's so much better because its much lighter and drapes a lot nicer.  I make another for myself, we will see!

My next big projects are baby booties, baby blankets, and possibly an afghan for myself.  Keep checking in!

DIY: tshirt scarf

My friend Emily and I decided to exchange homemade Christmas gifts this year.  I've been going through my clothes and realized I've actually never worn this grey and white tshirt from the Loft.  It never quite fit right and just hangs in the closet.

So, I repurposed it...

Hopefully Emily will get more wear out of it then I ever did!  Super easy ad fun to make.  I got all the instructions from Method Home .  I braided part of mine and got creative with alternate twists.  If anyone needs help, let me know!

DIY : christmas ornaments

So tis the season for... weddings?  Yes, thats right in the middle of the busy Christmas season I was invited to weddings of two close friends.  Of course I was already in the Christmas mood and buying a traditional wedding present was something I just couldn't do in the middle of all the fa la la.  So, i made these -

Christmas ornaments with their wedding invitation cut up in strips for a keepsake.  Everyone always gets a "Our First Christmas" ornament, but I thought this would be a great way to remember that special day in a different way.  I got the idea from Pinterest.  They are very easy to make.

I incorporated their wedding colors into the ornaments.  They both ended up being the same colors: white, black, silver or red.

Ingredients:
One plastic christmas ornament (I got one from Hobby Lobby)
Ribbon (I prefer the kind with wire)
Monogram Lettering from the scrapbook section.  I used large glittery sticker letters.  You can use rhinestones, or multiple letters if you would like to incorporate both names.
Embelishments - I used hair clips (removed clip) and feathers.  Get creative here!
Hot glue for all items that don't stick on their own (or need a little help sticking)
Cut the wedding invitation into strips with crazy scissors and curl them into the ornament

I'm open for business if anyone needs one! :)

thirty-one

I am hosting an online party for Thirty-One Gifts. If you're not aware of Thirty-One, they make a great line of purses, totes, bags, organizational solutions, and accessories - all very cute and very affordable! I would have loved to have you all over for a REAL party but since we moved to Canada and you all live everywhere, this is the next best thing.

The party starts now and will close next Tuesday night (October 11), so you have a little over a week to shop. And don't forget, Christmas is right around the corner, so now is a perfect time to start that shopping! The order will be placed when the party closes, and you can expect your purchases to be delivered within about 10 business days.

If you have any questions about specific products (or questions in general), let me know or feel free to contact my consultant, Jennifer King, at jenniferann010@gmail.com or at 512-924-3915. Here's the link to the party: http://www.mythirtyone.com/shop/catalog.aspx?eventId=E1056758&from=DIRECTLINK . (There's a button at the top right of the page to view the catalog.)

NOW get shopping ladies! ENJOY!

dear Etsy, you've done it again!  I could spend hours on this website of handmade and adorably chic fashion.  I am in love with Morgan Prather's designs.  I may have to put a few of these on my Christmas list as well.

Sprout

How cute and adorable are these little bookmarks?  I stumbled upon them while blogging yesterday.  Connect design has a lot of quirky objects worth looking at.  I'm going to add these bookmarks to my Christmas list.  You get a set of two when you order.  I've been back and forth on ordering an e-reader.  These little guys are keeping me motivated to read the old fashion way.  Happy reading!
