Read of the week: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Ok, so I haven't gotten anything else done except finish The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.  Literally, there is a bed unmade, laundry to be done, and a list a mile long of errands.  However, I borrowed it from the library on my Kindle Fire and so I only had one week to read it.  According to the Kindle, its 9,000 pages (kindle pages) so I had quite a bit to do!

I haven't seen the movie yet.  I'm a believer that if you can read the book first you should definitely do that.  However, seeing the movie would have taken up a lot less of my time!  Its not what I expected.  Actually, I don't know what I expected because I didn't read the plot before I started in.  I just knew a few friends had read it and it was an international bestseller.  I like most of what I read so I wasn't to concerned.  After all of the chic lit and pregnancy books I've been reading for the last few months this was definitely an intense and dramatic change.  Its a complicated murder mystery and something that is a bit hard to read before bed.  (Well, for me it is at least.. because this book makes you think and I'm not one for my best thinking right before bed.)  I'm glad it included a family timeline at the front of the book.  You are going to need it to understand all the family characters and how they are involved.

All in all the book was good but very disturbing.  I am not one for a gruesome tale.  I probably will not be seeing the movie because these kinds of thrillers are hard for me to digest.  I can usually read the book but the jumpy movie scenes I can't take.  I do recommend it if you enjoy murder mysteries.
