under the stairs

I have been thinking a lot lately about what my future house will look like.  I've always wanted a two story with an amazing staircase.  However, staircases can be done right and staircases can be done wrong.  Stairs take up a lot of room.  They are basically a lot of wasted room.  So, here are a few ideas that will help make any staircase functional and aesthetically pleasing.

pull out closets (re-nest)

country chic wooden drawers

nook with upholstered seat... maybe a cozy kids corner? (houzz)
open bookshelves for media, books, kid toys, pet toys, the ideas are endless
no mudroom? no coat closet? this would be perfect for boots, coats, etc. (houzz)
cozy desk corner -- super cute (houzz)

guest bath -- genius as long as it doesn't open up right into the living room (re-nest)
cabinets with a counter -- cute for wine storage or craft supplies?
closet or pantry if you are close to the kitchen
